Last week, we covered Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte reporting Newcastle United interest in Santos’ wonderkid Angelo.

The Magpies have been ‘monitoring’ the 17-year-old, and his agent ‘made a bridge’ between the club and the South American giants.

It turns out the interest is now backed up by another Brazilian outlet, IG, who now write a little more on the chase.

The website says Newcastle consider ‘intensifying’ the conversations for the signing. It’s claimed that after making a first contact with his representatives, the Magpies should ‘soon’ return with a concrete offer for the player.

IG doesn’t mention how much Newcastle would spend on Angelo. They just point out that Santos’ director Edu Dracena recently claimed the club need to sell, but only for considerable amounts that help them financially.

The youngster has a €60m release clause, although judging by the Peixe’s financial condition, half of that amount should be enough to sign the skilful winger.

Since the player only turns 18-years-of-age in December, he’s not able to move to England until then.
