Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Leeds United are in the mix to sign Bordeaux’s Sékou Mara this summer.
The French club have dropped out of Ligue 1 and Foot Mercato explain that due to their financial issues, there is no clarity as to which division they will play next season
At the same time, they still haven’t managed to sell any of their players, but that may change with Newcastle, Aston Villa and Leeds coming forward to acquire the 19-year-old’s services.
Although the English trio have not made any offers so far, they are very interested in the striker, who scored six goals from 26 Ligue 1 matches last season.
With regards to Newcastle, the report states the Magpies’ interest is ‘very concrete’ in the France U21 international, but they have so far not managed to convince the player.
It’s also explained Steven Gerrard’s side and the Whites are ‘seduced’ by the youngster.
If one of Newcastle, Aston Villa and Leeds want to sign Mara, they must convince him and Bordeaux, where the French teenager, who is valued at around €10m, has a contract until 2025.
