It seems to be a new thing at Le10 Sport to just link random Ligue 1 players with a move to Newcastle.
We first got Thiago Maia articles, which were both rebuked by local newspaper La Voix du Nord, and now we’ve got AS Monaco’s Jorge.
Bought to help fill the void left by Benjamin Mendy’s exit to Manchester City, the Brazilian wasn’t a key player for the principality club last season, but still started 22 games in the league for them, scoring a goal and picking up four assists in the process.
Either way, Le10 claim Newcastle are currently in ‘advanced talks’ with Monaco for the young left-back, but an agreement has yet to be reached.
There’s also no detail regarding the nature of the deal, but their single use of ‘transfer’ would suggest it’s for an outright purchase.
They point out that a few people at Monaco have told them this is a rather complicated deal for the Magpies to pull off, despite talks going on.
To us, that sounds a lot like an early excuse in case it doesn’t go through.
