Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest target Igor Paixão has insisted he wants ‘what is best for everyone’ if he is to leave Feyenoord this summer.
1908.nl cover comments from the forward today ahead of what may be a busy summer for the Brazilian.
The 24-year-old’s stock has been steadily rising over the last 18 months as he’s continued to impress for Feyenoord in the Netherlands and in the Champions League this season.
He has 11 goals and 15 assists in 38 games this season, including two goals and four assists in 11 games in the Champions League, and 32 goals and 25 assists in 120 games for the Dutch club to date.
That’s not gone unnoticed around Europe and his list of suitors has been growing for some time, with Newcastle and Nottingham Forest brought into the mix earlier this month.
They could both be ideal intermediate steps for the forward, particularly as they continue to push for Champions League football next season.
Paixão is aware of the rumours about his future but wants what’s best for everyone, including suitors such as Newcastle and Nottingham Forest.
“I will do my best at Feyenoord until the end of the season,” he said.
“If I stay, that’s fine. And if I leave, that will be the result of my game here. In any case, I want to leave something beautiful here. Moreover, I still have a contract until 2029.
“I will then focus on Feyenoord. It is up to the Feyenoord board and my agents to determine what is best for everyone.”
