Newcastle United and Everton have made ‘approaches’ for Sporting’s Matheus Nunes.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who state the Premier League duo are ready to bet big on the 23-year-old this summer.
Last season, the midfielder managed three goals and two assists from 33 league games. He also registered two assists from six Champions League matches.
The Portugal international’s performances have resulted in him drawing attention from Newcastle United and Everton.
With two clubs making approaches for the player, it’s said Sporting have turned down an approach of €45m. Foot Mercato doesn’t specify which club made that approach.
Either way, if one of the Magpies or Frank Lampard’s side want to take Nunes away from the Portuguese club, they will have to invest more than €45m.
The website warns the English clubs that they will have dig deep because Sporting will not accept any offer below his release clause of €60m. It remains to be seen if Newcastle or Everton are ready to pay that fee for Nunes.
