Newcastle United have ‘expressed’ their interest in Standard Liege midfielder Selim Amallah but face competition from Schalke and Valencia.
That’s according to DH, who say the midfielder has several clubs keen on his signature after scoring nine goals and registering four assists in 32 games this season.
They explain that Amallah has been a ‘revelation’ for Standard this season with a series of ‘remarkable performances’ thus far, even earning his first international call up.
That has seen his price rise in recent months, with several clubs ‘keeping an eye’ on his progress.
One of those appears to have been Newcastle, who have now taken that interest further and ‘expressed’ their interest in signing him.
According to DH they are the ‘most interested’ of the clubs who have been watching him and they ‘greatly appreciate’ the player.
He is ‘not opposed’ to a transfer, and an ‘adventure’ in the Premier League and his club are not entirely resistant to a deal either.
They will listen to an ‘interesting offer’ should they receive one but it is claimed their star player will not be ‘sold off’ either, hinting they will demand as much as possible from the likes of Newcastle.
Any bid from the Magpies is likely to be heavily dependant on whether the Premier League approves their takeover by a Saudi Arabian investment firm.
If it is, they are expected to have money to burn; otherwise, finances are likely to be tight as they usually are under Mike Ashley.
