As far as the Italian media is concerned, Achraf Lazaar will be a Newcastle player next season.
The Palermo left-back, who was linked with a move away to France in the past, has made the decision to join the Championship instead, according to multiple reports in Italy, including Calciomercato.
According to the football website, the player’s agent, Andrea Cattoli, met with Newcastle today to finalise the deal, and the player agreed to play under Rafa Benitez for the next five years.
The transfer fee is reported as being around €3.5m, which, considered Lazaar arrived at Palermo for £595k two seasons ago, isn’t a bad profit.
All of this comes after Mr Cattoli was relayed by TuttoMercatoWeb on Thursday as saying that despite all the rumours surrounding his client over the past few days, there was a chance he could still remain at Palermo.
That doesn’t look like it’s going to happen now.
The 24-year-old made 31 appearances for the Serie A outfit last season, scoring one goal and picking up one assist in the process.
