Following Ramon Planes’ departure from Barcelona, there continues to be a little mystery regarding where the official will work next.

As Spanish outlet Super Deporte writes about Valencia’s transfer plans today, they point out that the club could also be looking for a new sporting director, although the latest claims now rule out the former Barça man.

That’s because, relaying Ser Deportivos Valencia, Planes is actually ‘in advanced talks with Paris Saint Germain and Newcastle United’, who are ‘interested in hiring’ him.

Therefore, he thanked the approach from the Mestalla side but did not get interested in the job.

There doesn’t seem to be a favourite in the race for the director’s signing for now, even though Super Deporte points out that Planes is a friend of PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino.

It’s been a couple of weeks since Planes’ departure from Barcelona was reported and that’s when the links with a job at Newcastle United started.

Super Deporte writes that the Magpies’ new owners want someone with ‘experience and market knowledge’ and continue having his name ‘on the table’.

But that won’t be an easy path to sign him, because besides PSG, there have also been links with Roma, Bayer Leverkusen and Russian sides.
