Liverpool fans will be pleased to know that Barcelona are unlikely to make an approach for Jürgen Klopp in the summer, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The news that Luis Enrique will be stepping down from the Nou Camp job at the end of the season has sent the Catalan press in a bit of a frenzy, as they try and draw up potential candidates for the role.
Jürgen Klopp, with his exciting football and gegenpressing, certainly fits the role on paper to get the best out of the Barcelona team, but Mundo reckon him and Juventus’ Max Allegri aren’t even on the club’s radar.
Why? Because he doesn’t know anything about the club.
Barcelona, Tata Martino aside, have tried to keep a tradition of having managers who know the club inside out, having either played in their first team (Guardiola, Rijkaard, Luis Enrique) or spent enough time there to “get” what being a part of the organisation means (Tito Vilanova).
Neither the Liverpool manager nor Allegri fall into this category, and Mundo describe them as being ‘far from the profile the club are looking for’.
That, and he’d be rather expensive, as the Merseyside club won’t want to let him go without being compensated.
