On Saturday, we covered claims from Germany of serious interest from Bayer Leverkusen in Emi Buendia. The Bundesliga champions are trying to find a solution for the coming months after Martin Terrier picked up an injury, and the Aston Villa player has found himself at the top of the list.
Buendia has been linked with a number of clubs during the current transfer window. Not so long ago, there were claims in Argentina which stated River Plate were looking to sign the Aston Villa player to help them with them Copa Libertadores aims.
That would have been a difficult deal for River Plate to pull off, and even more so with interest from Bayer Leverkusen.
Sky Deutschland report there were ‘new talks on Saturday’ to try and move the Buendia to Bayer Leverkusen transfer forward, however, it doesn’t appear those talks have done the trick.
The 28-year-old is the German club’s number one target to replace Terrier, but they haven’t managed to come to an agreement yet with Aston Villa.
Initial reports had stated Bayer Leverkusen were keen on a loan with a purchase option, which would allow them to send Buendia back should they no longer need him in the summer.
Aston Villa would prefer an obligation clause, which is a fair stance.
