Tottenham Hotspur ‘appear’ in the picture to sign Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio, according to Calciomercato.

The winger has less than 15 months left on his contract and has not yet managed to find an agreement with Los Blancos over a new deal.

Asensio’s situation at the Bernabéu has attracted interest from AC Milan and Arsenal. These two sides are now joined by Tottenham Hotspur.

The Spain international has ‘decided to change agents’ and ‘rely’ on Jorge Mendes. With this new development, he could leave Carlo Ancelotti’s side and Spurs would be an option in the summer.

Although AC Milan and Arsenal are interested, the report states a ‘new path is opening up’ for the 26-year-old, because of Mendes. The super-agent would like to take the player to London, ‘but to Antonio Conte’s Tottenham’.

Real Madrid, for their part, have not given up on retaining Asensio for the long term. The website states the Spanish giants have ‘presented an improved offer’ to the attacker, and the chance of him staying at the club is therefore ‘rising’.

Asensio has 11 goals and an assist in all competitions this season.
