Chelsea are seriously interested in Fenerbahce’s Danish central defender Simon Kjaer, according to HurriyetSpor.
Manager Antonio Conte will reportedly be active in the January transfer window, looking for a defensive signing after he failed the sign Alessio Romagnoli and couple of other targets before Chelsea decided to splash the cash on David Luiz.
Kjaer has been linked to several clubs recently, and it’s claimed Chelsea are prepared to offer €20million to beat the competition.
Fenerbahce’s star defender, Kjaer has impressed enough this season and last to make his €7.5m move from Lille look like something of a bargain.
Calm and composed on the ball and with a great ability to read the game, Kjaer may want to test himself at a higher level than the Turkish Super League. Having played in Serie A and the Bundesliga, Kjaer may well like to add the Premier League to his list.
Forming a partnership with Martin Skrtel, Kjaer’s defensive form is even better this season than it was last, and he’s also scored 3 goals in 12 games so far.
An offer of €20m would represent a good profit for Fener, but they would surely be loathe to use Kjaer halfway through the season.
