There’s a claim in the Turkish media that Trabzonspor have come in with a new offer to re-sign Southampton forward Paul Onuachu.

The 30-year-old spent last season on loan with the Super Lig club and in recent months they’ve been making efforts to keep him.

Sporx report Southampton are ready to break their stubbornness with regards to the €15m they’ve been asking for the Nigeria international. Trabzonspor have refused to pay such a fee, but recently pressure from the player over a move back to Turkey looks to have broken the Saints resolve.

There were reports last week Onuachu had asked the Southampton hierarchy to let him return to the Trabzon club.

It’s claimed the Turkish side still want to loan the player next season, but now want to add bonuses and an option to buy next summer. It’s also reported they will send a player to newly promoted Goztepe as part of the deal.

Goztepe and Southampton are owned by the Sport Republic group.

Onuachu made 25 appearances last season, scoring an impressive 17 goals. He’s contracted to Southampton until June 2026.
