Takvim have reported new Fenerbahçe manager Aykut Kocaman wants to strengthen his squad by signing Aleksandar Mitrovic from Newcastle United.
The Serbian striker was linked with a move to Besiktas during winter transfer window, but nothing materialised.
Fenerbahçe are looking to sign a striker in the summer after Kocaman said all three of his forwards can leave the club. Fenerbahçe are expected to part company with the likes of Robin van Persie and Emmanuel Emenike this summer, so Mitrovic has a chance to become the No1 striker with the Turkish giants.
Mitrovic struggled to get starts under Rafael Benitez last season due to the form of Dwight Gayle, and the Turkish club are looking to take advantage by offering the Newcastle United player a season long loan.
Takvim say Kocaman has told Fenerbahçe president Aziz Yildirim he could be a great signing and it’s believed Newcastle United may be tempted to loan him out. Talks over a move for Mitrovic to Turkey could now take place soon, according to Takvim.
