With a change of ownership at Anderlecht comes a change of personnel, and the Belgian side have a new director of football, Luc Devroe.
We’ve already gone over the loan situation at the Jupiler Pro League reigning champions, and there’s only one man out of the five they have on the books they could want to keep: Matz Sels.
The Newcastle goalkeeper has been the only one who has impressed enough to be considered for a permanent transfer, alongside Henry Onyekuru, but the Nigerian is fully expected to leave once the season comes to an end.
As for Sels, it’s already been made clear it’ll be down to Rafa Benitez and whether or not he feels he’s seen enough of an improvement to make him his first choice.
If he doesn’t, with new owner Marc Coucke promising to invest some money into the club, Anderlecht could end up with a new goalkeeper.
Devroe is, according to Het Nieuwsblad, going to look at Sels’ situation and make a decision, but with his ‘millionaire’s’ salary at St James’ Park, even with new money, it won’t be easy.
