The Portuguese press continues to cover the arrival of Vítor Matos at Liverpool. The former Porto coach is expected to arrive at the Reds on Thursday, according to newspaper Jornal de Notícias.

His move to Anfield had already been reported by the Portuguese press earlier this week, but the outlet now brings a few more details about it.

They continue to claim that Matos will be ‘responsible for training development of elite players’, which is the position that Pepijn Lijnders had when they met at Porto.

Now he’s replacing the Dutchman at Liverpool, since Lijnders has become Klopp’s assistant, the newspaper says.

It’s claimed that Matos’ job should impact all players at Liverpool, with special attention for the U23 squad, with the mission of making the youngsters more ready for future first team chances.

According to Jornal de Notícias, Vítor Matos is starting his job with the Reds on the 1st of October.
