It seems Brazilian sides are indeed engaging in a pursuit for Southampton defender Lyanco.
Earlier this week, it had already been reported that Rio de Janeiro clubs Botafogo and Vasco da Gama were both interested in the player, who’s apparently willing to return to his home country.
Now in a report from journalist Gabriel Sá, it’s claimed that São Paulo are interested in the Southampton player as well.
It’s said that with the Tricolor losing a couple of centre-backs at the end of the year, they’re now looking for new names for the position.
And since Lyanco ‘wants to return to Brazilian football’, he’s now being ‘observed’ by São Paulo.
The defender even has nine appearances for Southampton this season, but according to those first reports from Brazil, he’d like to have more playing time.
The idea would be that by doing that in his home country, he also believes he can earn a place at the national team.
Despite all this, it still isn’t said how much would be needed to sign him from the Saints, who paid €7.5m to sign him in 2021.
