Before Arsenal decided to spend some money on Gabriel Jesus, Mikel Arteta wanted Dusan Vlahovic to bolster his strikeforce.

The Spanish manager was trying to anticipate the exits of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, and decided the Serbian forward was the right man for the job.

Edu Gaspar tried his best, but the player, at Fiorentina at the time, decided to stay in Italy, eventually signing for Juventus.

Since then, things haven’t really gone his way, while Arsenal’s trajectory has gone in the complete opposite direction to Juventus’, as the Gunners currently comfortably sit top of the Premier League.

They have reinforced their squad a fair bit in the meantime, but considering Jesus is currently injured, they are having to rely on younger players for goals these days, which can sometimes backfire, as shown with the recent 1-0 loss to Everton.

That means that, with Champions League football on the horizon next season, a new striker wouldn’t go amiss at the Emirates, and Vlahovic hasn’t been forgotten.

This is, at least, what Niccolò Ceccarini has learned, speaking about the Serbian’s future, relayed by Juve News, explaining Arsenal could come back for him in the summer.

He said: “A hot summer also seems to be on the horizon for forwards. One of them is definitely Vlahovic. The Premier League is now traveling in another great and is potentially able to present very high offers, and Italy remains of the favourite destinations.

“Arsenal had already tried to sign him before the transfer to Juventus. The idea remained and at the end of the season, a new attempt is very likely. In England, however, they are not the only one. Manchester United has also started to move. Overall, the situation is evolving.”
