Celtic were mentioned in an interview given by their former manager Ronny Deila today.
As the coach spoke to Het Laatste Nieuws, he has his quotes about the Parkhead side highlighted by Belgian outlet Voetbal Primeur.
Speaking about his Conference League campaign with Brugge, he pointed out he had some previous European experience with Celtic, and recalled his time working with the Scottish giants.
“When I take stock now (about his campaign with Brugge), the conclusion is not only that I learnt a lot. I also enjoyed it immensely, honestly,” said Deila, speaking to Het Laatste Nieuws today.
“That was much less the case at Celtic, because there, I never had the feeling that I could do or achieve what I wanted with my group. (looks at his players) Now I do have that feeling.”
Ronny Deila took charge of Celtic in the summer of 2014, and stayed at the club for a couple of seasons. There he had the best record of his career, with 76 wins, 22 draws and just 20 defeats in 118 games. He won the Scottish League twice, besides lifting the League Cup in 2015 as well.
After leaving the Hoops, the manager worked at Valerenga, New York City and Standard Liege, until joining Brugge last summer.
Things haven’t been great there in the local league, as they’re fifth in the Belgian competition, although he did conquer a spot in the Conference League’s round-of-16 after being first in their group.
