Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf are reporting on Tuesday evening that Erik ten Hag has reached a verbal agreement to become Manchester United manager.
They report, as fact, that Ten Hag has agreed to become manager at Old Trafford. There’s no doubt in their report, despite some doubt in England on Tuesday.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein had initially brought the claim of a verbal agreement. That was later doubted by some including Howard Nurse of the BBC, but De Telegraaf are convinced and make it clear it’s according to their own information.
They state Ten Hag will get a three year contract, with the possibility of a further year at the end of that. They also say he’ll be the highest paid Dutch manager the Premier League has had to date.
RB Leipzig get a mention, and it’s explained the Bundesliga club have ambitions, and money, to try and compete with Bayern Munich in German football.
Manchester United have seemingly won that battle, and Ten Hag has beaten other candidates including Mauricio Pochettino.
