Derby County are set to ‘quickly announce’ the appointment of Phillip Cocu, report Voetbal International in the Netherlands.
On Monday, Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf made it clear the former PSV manager wasn’t completely convinced on a move to the Championship club.
He was worried about some of the squad last season being made up of loanees, and how those gaps would be addressed going forward.
Cocu has been especially keen not to gamble with the next step of his career, after a bad experience in Turkish football last season.
Twan Scheepers will be joining his compatriot at Derby County, report Voetbal International. He had been an individual coach at PSV, working with players on a one-to-one basis, and will be Cocu’s assistant in England.
With Frank Lampard set to take over at Chelsea, Derby haven’t wasted any time finding a new manager, and it now seems clear they’ve dealt with any doubts Cocu initially had.
