There’s a claim in the Turkish media that Trabzonspor will soon make their final efforts to sign Southampton forward Paul Onuachu.
The Nigeria international has been linked with a return to the Super Lig club after he impressed during his loan there last season.
Sabah today report Trabzonspor have made it their priority to get a deal done for the Southampton player after accepting defeat in their attempts to sign Burnley’s Wout Weghorst. The Dutchman was the Turkish side’s back-up plan, but it seems like they can’t convince him over a transfer.
Subsequently Trabzonspor will again hold negotiations with Southampton with regards to signing Onuachu.
Southampton have already rejected an offer of €7m, plus €2m add-ons from the Trabzon club and it’s hoped a middle ground can be found during these meetings.
It’s reported the two clubs will now look to finalise a deal for the Nigerian as Trabzonspor hope to fix their woes in front of goal.
Onuachu made 25 appearances last season for Trabzonspor, scoring an impressive 17 goals. He’s contracted to Southampton until June 2026.
