Lucas Torreira has been linked with a return to Serie A since not long after leaving Italy, and Sampdoria, for Arsenal.
Months after the midfielder made the move to the Gunners in July 2018, claims started in Italy of the Uruguayan not being as happy in England as he had been in Genoa, and wanting to return to Italian football.
Those claims have continued to the present day, and Sunday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport looks at Fiorentina interest in the player.
Torreira is their priority this summer, as they look for a ‘director’ in the middle of the pitch. ‘Negotiations have been open for weeks’, explain Gazzetta, although it’s not made clear if these talks are directly with Arsenal or alternatively with the player’s agents.
No potential transfer fee is mentioned, and, as often happens when Serie A clubs are keen on Premier League players, that could be where this move hits serious issues.
Fiorentina are also worried about interest appearing from other clubs.
