Chelsea’s Cesare Casadei is yet to play even once in the Premier League this season.
He has four appearances in the UEFA Conference League but despite finding game time in the Championship under Enzo Maresca during his loan stint at Leicester City last season, the Italian is clearly not in his compatriot’s plans at Chelsea.
Casadei has naturally been linked with an exit from Stamford Bridge in recent weeks and the likes of Genoa and Como have been mentioned as potential destinations.
Gazzetta dello Sport have now looked at Monza’s chase of the 21-year-old.
The Serie A side want cover in midfield due to an injury crisis and they want to sign Casadei on a dry loan deal by the 2nd of January. The feeling is that their negotiations with Chelsea are ‘moving quickly’ and talks have been ongoing on for several weeks now.
Monza want to sign the player on a six-month loan as soon as they can. Whether that plan actually goes through or not remains to be seen, but there is some progress being made.
After injuries to both Roberto Gagliardini and Matteo Pessina, Casadei could get regular game time at the Brianza club and return to Chelsea a better player for it.
