The idea that Japhet Tanganga could follow in the footsteps of Fikayo Tomori and swap Premier League football for Milan is continuing in Italy.

The Serie A side need a new centre-back after failing to land Sven Botman, and their eyes appear set on the Tottenham player.

Spurs aren’t necessarily desperate to keep him, with a few reports suggesting they’d be happy to see him go on loan.

The big question is what happens afterwards, as Chelsea were somehow left surprised at how well Tomori adapted in Milan, who then made the move permanent thanks to a pre-agreed clause.

Corriere dello Sport on Friday state ‘negotiations go on’ between Tottenham and Milan, although Newcastle are said to have entered the race, which has already been reported.

Tanganga ‘would come on loan with the right of redemption’, as the Italians like what he has to offer both physically and on dead-ball situations.

This is all backed up by SportItalia journalist Gianluigi Longari, who took to Twitter to reveal that ‘new contacts are planned for next week between Milan and Tottenham to understand the eventual cost’ of the centre-back.

Furthermore, there is a ‘possible deal on loan with an option to buy’, while Valencia, now managed by Gennaro Gattuso, are also said have made an enquiry.
