With hiccups and delays in all of their other deals, it seems Lazio’s best bet for an adequate Ciro Immobile backup is Arsenal’s Lucas Perez.
This is what Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting on Tuesday, who claim the Spaniard has now become the Serie A side’s number one target to bolster their attack.
With the transfer for Club Brugge’s Wesley now ‘frozen’, the Arsenal forward represents a better deal, as he’d only cost them around €6m.
Talks between the two sides have ‘advanced well’ following their first contact regarding their upcoming friendly against each other.
Down the player’s end, Lucas Perez has already said yes to the potential deal, happy to be reunited with his good friend Luis Alberto, with whom he played at Deportivo La Coruña during the 2015-16 season.
All of this is backed up by Il Messaggero, who also believe the Arsenal goalscorer has ‘conquered’ the other targets, and would cost Lazio around €7m, which is around half of what Brugge are asking for Wesley.
This appears to be well on its way, and we wouldn’t be surprised if it happened. It makes a lot of sense for everyone involved.
