On Saturday morning, Serbian website Hotsport.rs report Partizan Beograd are in negotiations with Stoke City’s striker Bojan Krkić.
Krkić was considered to be an enormous talent a few years ago, but a combination of insufficient playing time, and injuries, means he’s never fulfilled his potential.
Once described as the next great at Barcelona, Krkić has spent the past few seasons changing clubs and going on loan. In 2014, he signed a contract with Stoke City, and played the second part of the last season on a loan in Mainz.
However, Partizan are looking for reinforcements as they qualified for the Europa League group stage, and club’s management declared participation in European competition to be a big attraction for potential arrivals. Yesterday, they announced a deal with former Manchester United youth player Zoran Tosic.
Today, the information leaked they are trying to get Krkić from Stoke City, who except his Spanish nationality also has a Serbian background via his father, a former player. As Uros Durdevic is on the way to Olympiakos and Leonardo already transferred to Al-Ahli, Partizan want to use the money to get Bojan.
According to Hotsport, Bojan asked Stoke for a transfer at the start of this season, in order to play more regularly. They added that Krkić’s arrival to Serbia ‘should be completed in the next two or three days’.
