The future of Memphis Depay is a big talking point in the French media, as the player has been linked to Lyon. We reported Lyon have been looking for a replacement of Rachid Ghezzal and have identified Memphis Depay as a possible target.

The Dutchman hasn’t been playing under Jose Mourinho, and an exit could be on the cards. Lyon are reportedly ready to make an offer of €15m for Depay, but Manchester United don’t feel it’s enough. It’s worth noting that L’Equipe say the €15m claim has come from the English and Dutch media, they don’t want to take ownership of it.

The Ligue 1 club boss Bruno Genesio publicly admitted Depay is a ‘priority’ transfer for them. French daily L’Equipe say he’d only really do this if negotiations to sign Depay are well advanced.

Lyon have other names on the list, including Adnan Januzaj, but signing Depay is being pushed to the front.

L’Equipe explain that Jean-Michel Aulas has been trying to talk down the Depay claims, denying talks with Manchester United, never-mind a bid.

The French newspaper aren’t sure if this is correct, and therefore all the reports are ahead of themselves, or Aulas playing negotiating games.
