Earlier this month, Italian journalist Nicolo Ceccarini stated Manchester United ‘should not be overlooked’ in the chase for Sergej Milinković-Savić. He also reported Lazio are open to letting their star leave, if they receive a ‘big offer’ in the summer.
These claims were made before Paul Pogba hinted that he could leave Old Trafford for the second time as a free agent. The Frenchman’s contract expires in June and he’s “not satisfied” with the last five campaigns at Old Trafford.
Maurizio Sarri’s side suffered a 3-0 defeat against Roma in the derby last weekend and they want to use the international break to plan their transfer business in the summer, as per La Repubblica.
Real Madrid were credited with interest in the past, but they don’t seem to want a new midfielder. This, as per the report, leaves Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain as the ‘two most interested teams’ in Milinković-Savić.
La Repubblica state United need to bring in a replacement for Pogba, who will leave the club in the coming months. According to the claims, the Lazio midfielder would ‘represent the natural heir of the Frenchman’.
The report also says Lazio chairman Claudio Lotito ‘will ask €100m’ for Milinković-Savić, but there’s no mention if either Manchester United or PSG are ready to invest that much on the Serbian.
