Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi was on the scoresheet in Belgium’s country’s 2-0 victory over Kazakhstan in the European qualifiers on Sunday.
After the tie, Belgium manager Roberto Martínez expressed his surprise over the forward’s lack of minutes with the Blues and also hinted the player should find a new club, if his situation doesn’t change soon.
“He doesn’t play enough at Chelsea. I think that’s a shame, even though he scores a lot with the national team,” Martínez told Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad.
“I hope he will play more, because we really need him… But then he has to play. Otherwise a solution must be found.”
Martínez’s latest comments should come as a warning to the 26-year-old, if he hopes to make it to the Belgium squad for Euro 2020.
Batshuayi has not started a league game for Chelsea this season, but still continues to shine when given an opportunity. The former Crystal Palace loanee is the third choice striker at Stamford Bridge, behind Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud.
Despite limited playing time, he has managed six goals and two assists for club and country this season.
Meanwhile, Giroud is also not satisfied with his lack of minutes at Chelsea, meaning Frank Lampard could be left with two out of three strikers unhappy in the squad.
