Even though the English window closed on August 8th, clubs outside England had an opportunity to sign the players from the Premier League clubs until September 2nd.
Christian Eriksen was one of the players who was constantly linked with a move away from Tottenham Hotspur, but the Denmark international failed to get a move away from the north London club.
Denmark assistant coach Jon Dahl Tomasson has given his thoughts on the former Ajax man’s failure to find a new club.
“It’s fine. They know what they are getting at Tottenham. Christian has a good relationship with the coach [Mauricio Pochettino], who also knows what he is getting [from Eriksen]. So I really see that as being okay,” Tomasson was quoted as saying by BT.
“It’s been written whether or not Christian should change the club. And he shouldn’t. He is such a balanced and skilled player, so they will always benefit from him. He must play at Tottenham.”
The 27-year-old is in his final year of contract with the Premier League side and various reports earlier indicated the Dane has no plans on signing an extension.
Eriksen has started only two matches this season, but Tomasson believes the player’s contract situation should have an impact on his playing time at Tottenham.
“I’m certainly not nervous because you have to assume that Tottenham will play with their best players. I know the coach and Christian have a good relationship. Tottenham is an excellent club for Christian and a huge club in England,” he explained.
“I’m not worried about Christian. After all, he is a man who is balanced and who can deliver and always delivers. I have no doubt at all. Skilled players will always be able to deliver.”
Eriksen is currently with the national team preparing for the upcoming fixtures against Gibraltar and Georgia. He spoke to Danish reporters on Monday, but he refused to provide any insight on why he failed to leave Spurs.
