Rangers took Ianis Hagi on a short-term loan deal from Genk in the winter market and retain an option to make his transfer permanent in the summer for a fee of around €5m.

Over the last month or so, reports coming out of Italy have talked about Lazio’s interest in the attacking midfielder.

Two days ago, we covered claims from Corriere dello Sport that the track for the Romania international to join the Serie A side ‘remains alive’.

Romania assistant coach Nicolae Dică has given an interview to Digi Sport, where he has advised the Rangers player to join the Italian capital club over Steven Gerrard’s side.

Dică has also explained why a move to Lazio would be ideal for Hagi.

“For him, the most important thing is to play. You saw that he went to Belgium and did not play, and in Scotland you saw that he played match by match,” Dică said.

“I would love to see him go to Lazio, because in this system 3-5-1-1, he may be behind the attacker and I think he fits, because he is technical and makes the difference in the final 25 yards.

“The Italian championship is very strong, but we have to keep in mind that he was there when he was very young.”

Lazio can complete Hagi’s signing easily in the upcoming transfer window if Rangers decide against making his stay permanent. If not, then the Italian side will have to negotiate with Gerrard’s side to acquire Hagi’s services.
