Former Bayern Munich attacker Ivica Olic, who’s now the Croatia assistant manager, has told the Russian media Everton’s Nikola Vlasic wants to stay at CSKA Moscow.

The attacking midfielder spent last season on loan with the Russian club where he impressed.

Olic spoke to Russian website Ria Novosti and confirmed the Everton attacker wants to continue his career in Russia. “Nikola told me that he wants to stay at CSKA if he has the chance. He is very happy how things are going in Russia for him, he loves life there.

“I think he would like to stay in Russia for one or two years. His performances in Russia also caught the attention of national team coach Zlatko Dalic and those performances have played a big role for his national team career.”

At the weekend we covered claims from Russia that Everton and CSKA are close to reaching an agreement for the 21-year old which would see him head back to Moscow.

The player’s agent is reportedly in talks with the Merseyside club and it’s hoped a deal can be completed after the U21 Euros.

Turkish side Besiktas have also been linked with the youngster in recent weeks but it seems he has a desire to remain in Russia.

Vlasic scored 8 goals for CSKA last season.
