Djurgårdens IF rising star Lucas Bergvall is edging closer towards reaching an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur. The Swede isn’t the only youngster that they have looked in recent times.
Spurs were also keen on securing a deal for Antonio Nusa, but that didn’t happen and the 18-year-old is still at Club Brugge.
Norway’s TV2 provides a background into the efforts put in by Tottenham in their failed attempt to sign Nusa.
Brentford overtook the north London club in the race for the attacker, after they agreed a deal with the Jupiler Pro League side. However, the operation didn’t go through after the Bees allegedly found a piece of cartilage in his knee during the medical.
Norway manager Ståle Solbakken has now revealed both Tottenham and the Bees had got in touch with him for the national team player.
“I’ve been called down by more clubs than those two [Brentford and Tottenham] in recent weeks. There are many who have tried to get on my side, but I can’t,” he told Viaplay.
TV2 have relayed his comments and then suggest Tottenham director Johan Lange tried persuading Solbakken to help Spurs sign the Norway international.
Lange has ‘worked for many years’ with Solbakken at FC Copenhagen, as their director and then as the latter’s assistant. This route hasn’t worked out for Tottenham.
Meanwhile, Nusa will be at Club Brugge, at least until the end of this season.
