Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann has backed Ralf Rangnick to be a massive hit at Manchester United, should he take over as their interim manager.
United are on the hunt for an interim manager until the end of the season, after electing to sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last weekend.
A whole list of names have been linked with the role since, but Rangnick emerged as the favourite yesterday.
Reports have indicated that he is ready to take on the manager’s role until the end of the season and will then take up a consultancy role at the club beyond that.
The German’s imminent appointment has been met with scepticism by some, who were expecting a big name like Mauricio Pochettino or Zinedine Zidane to fill the role.
Rangnick does not live up to the star appeal of either of those names, but he’s received backing from Nagelsmann, who believes he will be a big hit at Old Trafford.
“I wrote to him that I think it’s great,” Spox report him saying at his press conference today.
“He will do Manchester United a lot of good with his power and the way he plays football.
“I believe that United will play good games in the next few weeks, and I wish for him that he can stay there longer than “just” until the summer.
“And when the stress really starts with him, I’ll give him a call.”
