In what could be one of the strangest transfers of deadline day, QPR’s Steven Caulker has been reported as being close to a loan move to the Russian Premier League.
The once capped England defender, who spent last season on loan at both Southampton and Liverpool, hasn’t been used by QPR since the 28th of October, in a 2-0 loss to Brentford, and could be shipped out to save some money from the wage budget at Loftus Road.

Now, obviously no one wants to jump to conclusions here, but signing a player on loan from the England, especially one with Steven Caulker’s CV, would be seen as a coup by the Russian side, and they would rightly make a big deal out of it.
This could easily be 2 + 2 = 5, but with the reports of a move to Russia, this would make a lot of sense, and Lokomotiv are one of the few clubs who would be able to afford the player’s wages.
The defender, if that is him in the picture, would be joining former Tottenham defender Vedran Corluka at the club, with whom Caulker spent time with during his time at White Hart Lane between 2009-2013.
