Cesc Fabregas is a supremely gifted footballer and at his best he’s easily one of the best players in his position in world football, so why do things so often go wrong for him with managers?
Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo look at the question on Thursday. It’s stated that despite Fabregas really wanting to return to Barcelona, and the club really wanting to get him back, it didn’t click quite as well as everyone hoped.
Pep Guardiola seemed to grow frustrated with Fabregas, and the player himself said he didn’t fully understand what the now Manchester City manager wanted from him.
Mundo Deportivo say it was similar when Tito Vilanova and Tata Martino were in charge of Barcelona, and they believe similar is happing at Chelsea with Antonio Conte.
The newspaper call it a ‘mystery’ and they can’t quite fully work out why managers haven’t managed to get the best out of Fabregas all the time, and why several managers have appeared to not believe he can suit their optimum plan.
That of course then impacts upon Fabregas and the national team, the Chelsea player hasn’t been called up yet by new manager Julen Lopetegui.
