What of Charly Musonda? The Chelsea owned player, on loan to Real Betis, seems to have spent more time in London over the past couple of months than he has in Seville.
A knee issue has been the major cause of the worry, with Musonda returning to Chelsea more than once to have the injury assessed and monitored by doctors. This causes a real problem for Real Betis, because there’s a clause in Musonda’s contract which means Betis pay more the less he plays.
Chelsea can also cut the loan short if Musonda isn’t playing enough, but Betis would surely be happier with that situation rather than paying more for an injured loan player.
Betis don’t seem to know the extent of Musonda’s knee injury, given that he returns to Chelsea at the first sign of discomfort. Their own medical team aren’t really involved, and the situation isn’t the most clear.
If Musonda doesn’t want to be with Betis any longer then a January exit is the best for all involved. If the injury is genuine then Chelsea surely need to share their information openly with Betis and bring some allowances in for the situation, so the Spanish club aren’t forced to pay more for a player they can’t use.
