Despite hardly featuring for Wolverhampton Wanderers this season, Raúl Jiménez was called up by Tata Martino to represent Mexico during the international break.
The striker has found the back of the net just once in the four Wolves appearances he has this season, which came in a 2-1 win over Preston in the EFL Cup, but he remains an important part of his national team set up.
That’s why, a couple of months before the start of the World Cup in Qatar, the 31-year-old is rallying the troops in his home country, making sure everyone is behind them as they prepare for the tournament.
Speaking to the media, relayed by Pásala, the forward called for everyone to back the national team and their manager.
He said: “We must united, we are all in his boat, because he is doing things well. He is working well and as he has said, that is how things are.”
The Wolves man said the team ‘must always bring out the best in everyone’, and made it clear it was worth ignoring social media, which have become central to life as a whole in today’s society.
He added: “One is always on the social networks and can find out about everything. Everyone has their opinion and we must ignore what is said outside and inside the group. We must pull evenly so that it all goes ahead.”
Over on these shores, Wolves haven’t started the season in the best fashion, picking up just one win from a possible seven games, drawing three more and losing the other three, as they currently sit 17th in the table.
