Villarreal midfielder Manu Trigueros has warned Arsenal they are ready to ‘suffer’ to secure their place in the Europa League final.
The Spanish side meet with Arsenal in the second leg of their Europa League semi-final clash this evening, leading the first leg 2-1.
They head into the game as slight favourites after their performance in the first leg in which they were the superior side but failed to put the game to bed.
That performance is something they are keen to repeat at the Emirates and secure their place in their first European final since an appearance in the final of the Intertoto Cup in 2005.
They’ve made it to several semi-finals since that point, with the last being a clash against Liverpool in 2016.
A 3-0 defeat away from home ensured they failed on that occasion and Trigueros has insisted both he and his teammates are aware they will need to work to avoid a repeat.
“They (Arsenal) are high-level players, with a lot of speed at the top,” he told AS.
“They are great players, a great team, and we know it will be very difficult. But we hope to do something great.
“Concentration is key and more so in a semifinal. We are going to try to score and give our best level.
“We are solid and brave when it comes to pressure; we have experienced players who know how to tackle this type of game.
“We must go out to win, we know that there will be times when we are going to suffer, we know it, but we are prepared for it.”
