Despite Olivier Giroud still the favoured option at Marseille to partner Valère Germain, the idea of bringing in Wilfried Bony hasn’t gone away.
The Manchester City striker is destined to leave the Etihad this summer, and the Ligue 1 side’s interest in his services hasn’t gone unnoticed by the player, as was reported over a week ago.
Since then, La Provence report that ‘multiple talks’ have been held between Bony and Marseille, but the whole situation looks ‘rather complex’ for the French club to pull off.
One of the reasons behind this is the emergence of Swansea interest in their former forward, first reported by FootMercato last week, and a fee between the two Premier League sides is even said to have been agreed already.
La Provence explain Marseille now have to see whether or not Bony will want to return to Wales, where he had the best spell of his career, but, as previously reported, the player is interested about a move to the south of France.
With August looming, things are getting pretty desperate for both Marseille and Bony, and with each party potentially able to help the other, it almost seems like a match made in heaven.
Still a long way to go, though.
