West Ham United have ‘already carried out a survey’ for Juventus midfielder Denis Zakaria but the Italian side’s asking price is too high for now.

That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who say Juventus are determined to sell as they look to bring in €100m from sales this summer.

The newspaper explains that the Swiss midfielder has returned from a six-month loan spell at Chelsea that did not prove to be a particularly fruitful one for him or the Blues.

His future remains away from Turin, though, as they have no plans to include him in Max Allegri’s squad moving forwards and would prefer to sell so they can raise much-needed funds.

West Ham are keen and have ‘carried out a survey’ with Juventus to ask about a potential deal. They’ve been quoted €20m, a price that is ‘too much for the Hammers’ at this moment in time, ‘at least for now’.

The suggestion is that they are willing to sit on their interest and either wait for that price to drop or that they’ll perhaps be more willing to spend it later in the window. The latter would make sense given Declan Rice is being linked with a €100m move away.

David Moyes’ side will have to be careful, though, as Zakaria has several admirers in Germany, where he was a star player at Borussia Monchengladbach and Dortmund have ‘sniffed out’ a possible deal.

They would be serious competitors for West Ham, who at the moment are convinced on a deal at the prices being quoted.
