Kasper Schmeichel has played four games for Celtic so far in this league season and is yet to concede even once for the Hoops.
The veteran arrived at the club this summer and is expected to be a key figure at the back for Celtic, replacing Joe Hart.
The 37-year-old is vstill ery much around for the Danish national team and was called again as he is routinely for the current international break. Denmark take on Serbia and Switzerland soon and Schmeichel will likely start both ties.
Temporary Denmark boss Lars Knudsen has spoken to the press, as relayed by Avisen, and he had some nice words for Schmeichel. He stated that the goalkeeper deserves all the praise he’s getting for his performances for Celtic.
The goalkeeper chatted to the press as well and he spoke about his form and start to life as a Celtic player.
“So my attitude has been that I must never take the place for granted. It’s a privilege to stand there, and you have to earn it, and I also think that I have earned it with my first performances for Celtic.”
The former Premier League winner will make his 106th appearance for the national side in the next game and he spoke about this huge amount of caps.
“It’s a place you should never expect to get, it’s a place you have to earn. Being a Danish national team goalkeeper is not just standing in goal, many factors come into play. And it is a place that is never your property, there is always competition and others who can take the place.”
Knudsen went on to praise the keeper further, highlighting how much he brings to the table for Denmark… and now for Celtic.
