If the Spanish media can get a little Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola battle in an elaborate transfer rumour then it’s an open goal.

Don Balon’s latest creations include a claim the Manchester United manager is ‘determined to sign Toni Kroos, ‘won’t give up his efforts’, and is partly motivated by the chance to annoy Guardiola, with it then explained that Manchester City manager has long wanted the midfielder himself.

Mourinho will continue with his efforts until he gets the answer he wants from Kroos, and then Manchester United would have to go into battle with Real Madrid.

From the German midfielder’s perspective, he’s said to be ‘increasingly determined’ to leave Real Madrid this summer because he believes the team has hit its peak and it’s all downhill from here.

Surely if Kroos is looking to surf around the form clubs of European football then Manchester City would be the obvious destination, but then that would interfere with Don Balon’s specific line of imagination on this one.
