Manchester United allowed Marouane Fellaini to join Chinese club Shandong Luneng in February 2019.

The midfielder left the Red Devils just over a month after José Mourinho was relieved from his duties at Old Trafford. The Portuguese tactician returned to management last month when Tottenham Hotspur appointed him as Mauricio Pochettino’s successor.

DH first reported on Sunday that Mourinho contacted Fellaini last week to see if he would be willing to return to the Premier League.

The Shandong Luneng star turned 32 years of age last month, yet he’s taken good care of his body and has maintained a good level of performances.

Another report from DH now claims this could be the reason why the Spurs manager got in touch with Fellaini to see if can be tempted to join him at Tottenham.

Mourinho believes he doesn’t have a player like the Belgian at his disposal, which is another reason he wants to attract Fellaini.

The report adds Mourinho will ‘do anything possible’ to bring Fellaini back to England.

Fellaini’s contract with the Chinese side runs until 2021 and they have an option to further extend it by a year.
