If Manchester United manager José Mourinho goes somewhere that isn’t Carrington, Old Trafford or his house, you can can guarantee there will be a story about it.
So when the Special One decided to head to Croatia during the international break, everyone automatically jumped to conclusions that he was there to negotiate a deal for Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic.
Index in Croatia think as much, and claim Mourinho is currently in the company of Predrag Mijatovic, Real Madrid’s former director of football, who now works as an intermediate in transfer deals involving Balkan players.
The Manchester United manager was pictured taking a stroll this Friday, sarcastically ‘thanking’ photographers for allowing him to walk in their city. Mourinho’s presence has created a huge stir in Croatia, and quite a bit of excitement.
Index claim it will be difficult for Inter Milan to keep hold of Ivan Perisic this summer, and reckon he could be available for somewhere around €40m.
However, Perisic might not be the motive for Mourinho’s visit in Croatia, with their national team set to face Ukraine in Zagreb on Friday night in a highly competitive World Cup qualifier, and the Manchester United manager could simply be there on a scouting trip.
The Inter Milan forward is set to miss out on the game due to suspension, but there will be a lot of talent on display, with Marcelo Brozovic, Mateo Kovacic, Marko Rog, Marko Pjaca, Ivan Rakitic, Viktor Kovalenko, Andriy Yarmolenko and Yehven Konoplyanka all ready to make an appearance.
Perisic is often described as a striker, but he’s more a wide player and has operated on the left for Inter this season.
