Jose Mourinho has spoken to Portugal’s Sport TV and shared some insight into his plans for Manchester United transfers. The club have been linked to several players for the January window and beyond, and Mourinho has talked down the chance of big purchases this winter.
Speaking to Sport TV, the Manchester United manager said: “I am convinced that in this winter market we will be sellers and not buyers. We want to raise pounds to attack in the summer, as we did this year with the contract of four players.”
Mourinho was referring to the signing of Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
A Bola, who are carrying the quotes in their Wednesday edition, say any idea of a Victor Lindelof transfer looks more likely for the summer window.
Like all managers, Mourinho’s words on transfers haven’t always been kept, but it appears the Manchester United manager is expecting another big summer of purchases.
Antoine Griezmann has been repeatedly linked with a move to Manchester United, and he could be one of the targets Mourinho is already thinking about.
