David De Gea signed a new contract at Old Trafford last year, with many since suggesting the Spaniard has a release clause in his new contract, which would allow him to sign for Real Madrid this summer.

Spanish newspaper AS report on Wednesday that Real Madrid had until today to activate De Gea’s release clause of €50m, but they have decided against it.

Jose Mourinho has also convinced the goalkeeper to stay at Manchester Unitd, and the player no longer wants to leave the club for Real Madrid.

De Gea is said to be excited about the new era under Jose Mourinho, and Real Madrid are also happy to continue with Keylor Navas.

It is reported Florentino Perez wanted De Gea at all costs, as he believes he is a perfect replacement for Iker Casillas, but Zidane has rejected the chance to sign the Spaniard.

Keylor Navas has been in brilliant form this season, and was crucial to the club’s Champions League success.

It seems it’s a good decision for all parties involved, and Manchester United fans wil be hoping there are no more rumours of De Gea leaving the club.
