Jose Mourinho is eyeing up a reunion with Marouane Fellaini at Tottenham if he remains at the club this summer.

That’s according to Voetbal 24, who say the former Everton and Manchester United man would welcome the return to England.

Fellaini currently plies his trade in China, having joined Shandong Luneng from Manchester United in February 2019.

His contract with the Chinese Super League since comes to an end in December this year and, while they have an option to extend it by another year, all indications are that he will depart.

That is certainly the stance from Voetbal 24, who say his ‘adventure in Asia comes to an end’ and he will ‘soon play football again’ in the Premier League.

They report that, according to their sources, he is set to end his contract with Shandong early, and that is because of interest from Mourinho and Tottenham.

He is in ‘tight shoes’ at Spurs due to their poor performances this season, but because it would cost too much to fire him, the club are set to stick by him.

Mourinho, though, has ‘demands’ and one of them is an overhaul of the squad that he inherited from Mauricio Pochettino last season.

High on his ‘wish list’ is Fellaini, with whom he worked at Manchester United and enjoys a ‘good relationship’ with ever since.

The midfielder would like a return to the Premier League as he is thinking of a comeback with the Belgian national team, who he hasn’t played for since October 2018.

Returning to China for six months after featuring in the European Championships wouldn’t interest him, and so a ‘solution’ would appear in the shape of Tottenham, with Shandong willing to end his contract so he can start next season with Mourinho and co.
