Like the rest of us, it’s easy to imagine the arrival of José Mourinho is all anyone at Tottenham can talk about at the minute.
The players will undoubtedly be discussing it, with many likely wondering what their future at the club will look like under the Portuguese.
Giovani Lo Celso is one of those players who will be looking to the new manager and questioning what’s going to happen.
The Argentine arrived at Tottenham on loan from Real Betis in the summer, with the deal involving an option to turn that permanent next summer.
It also included the option to make it permanent for cheaper in January, which seemed likely given Mauricio Pochettino’s love for the player and Daniel Levy’s penchant for saving money.
They cover the situation at Spurs from a Lo Celso point of view today and suggest Mourinho’s arrival could ‘greatly affect’ the Argentina midfielder.
It’s explained he was the ‘express wish’ of Pochettino, who asked Levy for ‘an important economic effort’ to get him. The suggestion is that Pochettino would have therefore pushed to make the move permanent.
However, he’s gone, and Lo Celso’s situation is now ‘a mystery’ as it will be Mourinho who decides his future as he’s always ‘claimed command’ when he’s been faced with such a situation at his previous clubs.
Estadio say that ‘with Mourinho at the helm, anything can happen’ suggesting that Lo Celso, who hasn’t exactly shone in London, could be sent packing before his Tottenham career has even begun.
